Description

The Church of St. James (Czech: Kostel svatého Jakuba) dates to the 13th century. In 1995 it was designated a National Cultural Landmark. It contains the tomb of Louis Raduit de Souches, defender of Brno from 1645.

In 2001, an archeological excavation revealed the Brno Ossuary, an ossuary underneath the square by the church (Jakubské náměstí), which is estimated to contain the remains of 50,000 people.
