Overall, I liked this restaurant. With a few exceptions, I can't say the cooking really soared. Some was just competent and/or basic. Occasional service misfires were easily redeemed by the extremely friendly attitude and smiles.

The biggest surprise was the steak. As mentioned before, the server pre-emptively asked us how we'd like it cooked. I can only speak for myself. I've eaten at plenty of authentic Indonesian restaurants and this food did not come close to meeting my expectations.

The prices at Java may be reasonable, but I didn't like my meals, and I won't be making any future visits.
